Off-Platform Policy
Last Updated: January 28, 2024
As a host on OpenMicz, you are expected to adhere to our terms and policies, including the Terms of Service, which we retain the right to enforce at our sole discretion. In cases of repeated or severe violations, we reserve the right to suspend or permanently deactivate a person's account. To safeguard our community and business, the following actions are expressly prohibited:
Redirecting individuals away from the OpenMicz platform for new, partial, or future bookings
- Engaging with potential Producers prior to booking on OpenMicz with the intent of shifting the booking away from OpenMicz (e.g., offering discounts to book off OpenMicz).
- Canceling existing full or partial reservations and prompting Producers to re-book outside OpenMicz.
- Urging or enticing Producers to make bookings outside of OpenMicz for repeat or future engagements.
Requesting or utilizing contact or identity information from Producers in ways unrelated to their space booking or that undermine the quality of their event for the space they booked.
- Requesting Producers' personal information (i.e. social security number, birth date, etc,…) after booking for the purpose of conducting credit checks or background checks.
- Asking Producers to provide photos of their government ID before or at arrival, unless required for legal or compliance reasons as outlined below.
- Requesting or using Producers' contact information to settle additional payments outside of OpenMicz's platform; all payments related to a Producer's event, including extensions (except for identified exceptions), must be processed through OpenMicz.
- Utilizing contact information provided by OpenMicz for purposes that violate our Terms of Service.
- Selling, sharing, or using Producers' contact information for marketing communications or adding them to contact lists.
Exceptions
- You may need additional contact/identity information if it is necessary for legal or compliance reasons and can be verified by a Host upon request by OpenMicz (such as local laws, legal age-of-entry laws, building security rules). In such instances, Hosts must provide details about what is required and why in their listing description, ensuring Producers understand that this additional step is a prerequisite prior to booking. Hosts are responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable data privacy laws.
- After accepting a booking, you may request a Producer to confirm that the contact information provided by OpenMicz is a suitable means of communication during their trip or if the Producer requests an alternative method after booking. You can employ an alternative means of communication with a Producer if requested by them after booking (e.g., WhatsApp). However, you must ensure that such communications comply with the other requirements of this policy.
Requiring Producers to use other websites or apps to physically access their listing
- Requesting Producers to create a separate account or register on another website besides OpenMicz.com in order to access a listing
- Requesting Producers to install a third-party app to access a listing; all listings on OpenMicz should be accessible to a Producer without the requirement of utilizing another app or account
Exceptions
Hosts are allowed to request additional registration or the installation of additional apps if mandated by legal or compliance requirements, which the Host can substantiate in writing upon request by OpenMicz (such as local laws, building security rules). In such cases, Hosts must provide information about the necessity and reasons for these additional requirements in their listing description visible to Producers, ensuring they are aware of this prerequisite before booking.
